Production Design. About me.

With a background in Fine Art, I began my career in the film industry several decades ago. I frequently work on-location and across various budget ranges. I've honed my craft under the guidance of masterful storytellers and bring a high level of professionalism and dedication to each project. My varied experiences have shaped me into a well-rounded designer, capable of blending creativity with the pragmatic demands of the industry. I find inspiration by collaborating with the talented craftspeople of our industry and observing the varied, spectacular, and sometimes strange spaces we encounter.

Most recently, I served as Art Director for Paramount's acclaimed series, Yellowstone. Early in my career, I gained valuable experience as prop master on several films directed by the highly admired and acclaimed director, Richard Linklater.

Process:

I begin each project with openness, starting with conversations with the director. I research and pull references from many sources, including advice from experts. My favorite sets stay true to life and the characters. I design using scale, light sources, and color palettes to communicate the collaborative vision of the Director, DP, and myself. Adding layers of texture and detail transforms the set into an environment. An environment that feels real is sensed through the performances and allows freedom for the camera. I love pre-visual materials (mock-ups, illustrations, and models) for planning and implementing designs and communicating with my crew and keys from other departments.
